Great News for Outreach!Overview:
When we, the Savola’s took over the ministry in April, we made some choices as a ministry to get the ministry back on solid ground financially. One of those decisions was to limit the amount of people we send the Newsletter to. We only sent the Newsletter to people who had shown an interest in the ministry for the last five years. We are now in a much improved financial situation and we wanted to at least reach out to everyone one more time to update on the ministry. If you haven’t received a newsletter in several months and would like to be put back on our mailing list, please check the box on the return slip and we will add you back to our mailing list.
TOY MINISTRY!
It is that time of year again and we need help making this year’s toy ministry a success. Outreach provides toys to the children of inmates in Virginia Beach Jail. This helps the children to know that their parent is still thinking about them even though they cannot be with them this Christmas Season. We will be setting up a store above our new office. The caregiver will be given an appointment to come shop for the children. We will need volunteers in many areas to make this ministry happen. There are always openings for data entry people. We also need cheerful people to shop with the caregiver and minister to them as well as pray for any need they may have. We also may need people to drive some of the caregivers to their shopping appointment if they absolutely have no other transportation. We also need people to restock the shelves with toys for the shoppers. There is a big need for more Toy Donations as our supply is not yet close to the demand. We will schedule as many appointments, day and night, to shop, as our supply allows and when we get low, we will stop scheduling appointments. Please help us to provide this unique show of love from the incarcerated parent to their children.
Exciting Events and Ministries
On the second Sunday of every month, our teams, including Dr. Skinner, go into Indian Creek Correction Center and minister to the inmates and perform a church service.
On the second and fourth Sunday of each month, our teams go into the Virginia Beach Correction Center and minister to the inmates, one on one.
Every Sunday we have a team of volunteers performing a church service at Kindred Transitional Care and Rehabilitation at 1148 First Colonial Road in Virginia Beach at 6pm.
Monday evening we have an open Bible Study at our office. We start at 6pm with a meal and then we have an open discussion on whichever Bible passage Dr. Skinner is studying at the time. This is free and open to everyone, we just ask that you call first to reserve a seat so we make sure we have enough food to go around.
Every Thursday evening at 6:30 we have a men’s and women’s Bible study at the office, led by John and Tammy Savola. Refreshments provided.
Every Friday at 10pm our Street Ministers meet at the office and pray together before going out to do Street Evangelism at the Oceanfront until about 12:30am. You are welcome to join.
Future Goals
We are still planning to open a thrift store next year. We are in need of a location that will fit our purpose. We believe that God is preparing the perfect location for this venture.
Prayer requests
Pray for our faithful donors to be blessed with financial blessings and good health.
Pray for God to soften the hearts of the families of the inmates we are ministering to. We are praying for reconciliation and healed hearts.
Pray also for everyone here at the ministry. Pray for renewed strength and perseverance. Pray for more people to volunteer and help us in the many openings in the ministry.

What Else Should I Know?
We truly want to thank you for reading our newsletter. We have been making many changes and we believe we see God’s hand in our everyday works. We appreciate all of our faithful donors. You are the reason this ministry is still doing amazing things every day. The heart of this ministry is to reach out to people who feel as if the church has forgotten them. We remind them that Jesus still loves them and cares for them. Instead of them coming to church, we take the church to them. We love on them no matter where they are. We are thankful to have this opportunity to be used by God to reach out to these precious people.

Ministry openings for volunteers!
1. We are looking for someone gifted in prayer and data entry to train in taking over the prayer letter. It would require about 8 hours twice a month. We will train you if you feel this is where God is calling you.
2. We need people to help this Toy Ministry Season from November 28th to Christmas Eve, as much or as little as you like. We have day, evening and weekend hours available.
3. We are looking for people we can train in every ministry we have. If you feel the Lord calling you, we would be happy to train you.
4. We need a volunteer that is interested in long term ministry to head up a ministry house. We will interview men for the Men’s house and women for the Women’s house. This person needs to be very disciplined, upright and loyal.
5. We need more people able to do physical labor. We always have a variety of projects going on at the ministry or for the community.
6. We are looking to put a team together to minister in an additional jail and someone to lead worship. If this is your interest please contact us.
