Coronavirus Heroes
There is such a huge need as far as the shut-ins. People who cannot leave their homes because of quarantine or weakened immune systems are at the mercy of others. We decided that if our mommas were stuck somewhere away from us, we would hope and pray that someone would come along to help them through this difficult time. This is where the Lord is leading us now. There is a gap that needs to be filled. We have also been calling everyone in our database and praying with them and seeing if they need anything. This is how we found out Wayne was much better at keeping up with the database than we are. He was always updating phone numbers and addresses. We have many people in our database without a current phone number. We will look into updating after the busyness passes. If you are struggling, we believe in taking care of our own. Please call our office and leave a message. We don’t want anyone to be suffering through this time. We are blessed with a huge food pantry in Norfolk and we are happy to help. Call 757-498-4700 if you are personally struggling.

Helping Widows!
Everyone knows we love helping widows. Our ministry had an opportunity this last month to help repair a fence. Even Vernon with stage 4 pancreatic cancer got in on the action as he and Steve helped put things in order for one of our special widows.
Happy Mother’s Day
This is not always a happy time for mothers or children. In this ministry we see many situations where mothers are apart from their children. We have mothers in jail or prison and some that have just walked away from responsibility. Some of the women have turned to drugs. We also have some mothers that have children in jail or prison. This could be a time of grieving over what could have been. There could be mothers struggling to find forgiveness for abortion. Please keep this in mind while loving on people this month. If it is in your ability to offer the kindness and love to someone struggling, by all means, please do so. There is no condemnation in Christ. There is also no shame in a comeback. Sometimes we can be the helping hand of compassion to help someone heal from some of these devastating things. I know when I had a hard time getting over my past and all I could do was remember the bad things, God sent someone. A kind lady told me “That is not who you are anymore.” I couldn’t seem to see myself as forgiven and loved by God. It took hearing it from someone else to make it real to me. Let’s reach out and let people know that Jesus loves them, no matter what they may have done in the past.

Busy with a New Normal
Life and Ministry are very different for us right now.
It seems we are actually busier now with the virus affecting so many. We have been delivering essential items and groceries to the vulnerable, high risk population. We have been working hard to obtain hard-to-find items that are running low for everyone. The first couple weeks of social distancing, we delivered groceries to many shut-ins. As the weeks pass by, the lists of needed items becomes more specific as people are using up their personal stock piles of supplies such as toilet paper, butter, eggs, coffee, laundry detergent and so much more. We are having to actually purchase quite a bit of these items as they are not what we usually have on hand in our food pantry. Our hearts go out to the elderly, at risk population that cannot go to the store for themselves and do not have family members to provide for their needs. We are in need of help. We are praying the Lord will continue to provide these items as even the store shelves are empty. Please cover us in prayer as we are working long hours to accomplish this new normal. Pray for protection over us as well as we are out in it frequently. There are videos on our Facebook page at Outreach for Christ Ministries.

Partnering with Operation Blessing
They reached out to all their partners and found that out of all the ministries they partner with, we are the only ministry doing home delivery to this most vulnerable population.

It is turning into a full-time job keeping our many freezers and shelves full to be able to take care of the needs of the people.

Mailing Info
Please help us as we help as many as we can.

If you can give towards our food pantry now, that seems to be the biggest need. Also if you are in need, please call the office and leave a message at 757-498-4700. God bless you always. Some of our stats!
We had an amazing year of winning people to the Lord.
We are super excited about winning souls for the Kingdom of God. This last year was awesome as we saw our numbers sky rocket. I think some of it is because we are keeping better records and the bulk of it is because we have amazingly faithful volunteers!
Jail and Prison 56 first time professions of faith
Street Ministry 127 first time professions of faith
Mission Malawi 759 first time professions of faith

Total Salvations for 2019 is 942

We also did not turn away anyone at our food pantry that sees a huge line almost every week waiting for groceries.
Nobody was turned away for toys this year either. It is a good feeling to be able to help every single person that requests help.
We are also up one more huge asset for the ministry as we now own the office suite free and clear as well as the ministry house. This is huge for us especially knowing how hard we fought to become debt free and stay that way.
Come hear about our trip to Malawi
Many people have been asking about our trip. We want to share all of it with you.
We were very blessed to travel to Malawi and make an impact on the people living in the most horrendous poverty. We have many pictures and videos of our time there. We kept a journal of everything we did so we would be able to share it with you. Please join us at our office on February 17th at 6pm. We will share all about our time there and what’s next. Let’s make this a potluck. Bring a dish to share. 2425 Bowland Pkwy in Virginia Beach, Suite 108.

Superbowl Party
Let’s watch together! February 2nd
Superbowl is an exciting time to come together for fellowship. We will be having a Superbowl Party at the office in Virginia Beach. Let’s make this a chili cook-off with all the fixin’s. We will have games and prizes for the best chili in several categories.
Time- 6pm at 2425 Bowland Pkwy in Suite 108
Come on out and try to take the prize for the best chili. We love tasting and sharing. This is a true fellowship where we see some people become instant prayer warriors praying for their team to win.

Prayer Points
We are sharing our issues with you so we can conquer them together in prayer
  1. We are in the prayer stage of doing something for the youth. Our heart is really to help those kids that are not able to experience life outside of their poverty stricken, drug infested neighborhoods. We feel that if we can get them at a young age before the drug dealers and gang leaders do, we can make a huge impact in our communities. This is going to take a huge amount of help.
  2. We are also in the prayer stage of doing a bonfire worship night in Chesapeake at Land of Promise Ministry Site. We want to pray together over the future use of this site for Ministry. We will have hot dogs, hot chocolate and other warm refreshments as we pray and worship together. We will do this on March 28th at 5pm. We will give more details in the next letter.
  3. We need prayer for new volunteers. We need volunteers in our food pantry in Norfolk.
  4. Please pray for us to have wisdom in making decisions concerning the ministry.
  5. Please pray for the Ministry to have favor in every financial deal.
  6. Pray for us also to be people of influence for the Lord.

Holiday Success!
Things were different this year
As always, we were grateful to help everyone who came through the door. We could not have done it without all of you. Every person that came in to shop received food, gifts and prayer.
The holidays can be a real downer for some families living in poverty.

I know they left here much better than when they came. They did not have to stress about how to provide Christmas to their children.

Prayer Points
We are sharing our issues with you so we can conquer them together in prayer
  1. While we were in Malawi, we found out John’s brother has stage four pancreatic cancer. We are his primary caregivers as he lives in our program. This has been a difficult adjustment for our family and the program as we make some changes to allow for his full-time care. Please pray that we will help him to enjoy every day we have and that the Lord will be merciful to him. Also pray for renewed strength for us as we are learning a lot in this new season.
  2. We also are adjusting to a new season of being Army Mom & Dad. Bradley and Brodie joined the Army earlier this year and we are learning how to go long periods of time without contact. We are walking out a new level of faith.
  3. We are taking time early this year to pray and spend time alone with the Lord to determine this year’s course of action. Please pray that we will continue to do only what the Lord has for us to do.
  4. Please pray for us to have wisdom as we are making many changes over this New Year.
  5. John Tirey has decided to actually be retired for once in his life. He stepped down from our Board of Directors and he is also stepping down as our bookkeeper at the end of this Tax Preparation. Please pray for him and Brenda to be able to enjoy retirement and for God to bless them richly in this new season. Please pray for us as well as he has been our go-to guy for everything. Every time we had a problem, he had a solution. Lord, please help fill this huge gap.
  6. Pray for the Lord to anoint us in picking up the slack. Also pray for us to make good choices in updating software and such to be more user friendly.

New Year, New Changes
We are always trying to improve so please be patient as we try different layouts and formats for the New Year.

Next month we will have all our stats for the year of 2019 so you can see everything that you have been a part of. We get excited and renewed when we start to see all the different numbers in all the different ministries. This gives us the extra little boost for the New Year.
As always, we are trying to be better stewards of the finances and assets of Outreach. We are also always trying to find ways to streamline and better manage our time. With the New Year here and John Tirey retiring, we are trying some new bookkeeping and data keeping software. Please be patient with us as this may sometimes cause delays until we become proficient.
We encourage you to think about last year and determine what worked really well. Definitely continue those things. Also think about areas in your life that may need a little tweak or improvement. Now is a good time as any to start something new. Let’s see how we can work smarter and not harder. There is always room for improvement. If the good Lord has you here, you can believe there is a reason. So, whatever He has entrusted to you, choose to be the very best steward of it. Determine in your heart that you will finish it well.
We also encourage you to make sure to find some joy in every day. We are making a commitment to do the same. Take a little time to encourage others. Kind words can help so much in difficult seasons. You never know. You may just make someone’s day and help them to push through a hard time too.
God bless you always,
John and Tammy Savola

Thank You!

We are so grateful to see another year finishing so well. We have seen so much growth this last year in the ministry. Sometimes things appear to be growing so fast we can hardly hold on. We would not be able to do any of these things without you by our sides. We are blessed to be able to help so many people. We pray that the next year will be filled with blessings for you all.

Toys!
We have been sorting and organizing toys for several weeks now. We can see we still have a huge need for gift items for ages 14-18. We could use sports balls for boys. They are only $5 at 5Below. We could also use headphones they could connect to their phones. They have these for boys and girls. I know the Bluetooth ones are popular right now. We could use grooming items for boys and girls as well as jewelry and make-up for the girls. We are very low on books, games.  We also need a huge influx of dollar store items for stocking stuffers. These are just a few ideas. Use your creativity and help us out. Also we need to come together as the body of Christ right now and be on the lookout for families in need. If you know of a family that is having a hard time, please call us with their information and we will be happy to take care of them for Christmas.

How To Help!
There are many ways to help. Be proactive. Give us a call after reading this and let us know what you can do. The needs we have are huge and it will literally take an army of believers to conquer. Pick one or more ways you can help.
1.      If you are a business owner, you could put a box at your location with one of our flyers to collect toys for the Toy Ministry.
2.      We do utility assistance in the amount of $75. You could send in $75 for each family in need you would like to sponsor.
3.      You can use the insert of this newsletter and go shopping for toys for the Toy Ministry or fill one or more request for holiday meals, or you could just send a check for however many holiday meals you would like to sponsor at $25 each.
4.      You could donate your time in the distribution of holiday meals or toys.
5.      You can gather your Bible study team or a group of friends and do a toy drive to collect toys for the Christmas Toy Ministry.
6.      You can send a check designated to a specific purpose and we will make sure it gets spent on that specific purpose.

We are also still saving for the Ann Skinner home for women and children!

Military Family!
We were very blessed to be able to spend Thanksgiving with our soldier. Two of our sons are in the army now. They are growing up and pursuing their goals.

Let’s Finish Strong!
We still need a ton of toys and support. There is a huge amount of people requesting help this Christmas and I know if we work together, we can make it happen. There is also a huge need for utility assistance.  If the Lord lays it on your heart, please help. We will be needing volunteers to help distribute the toys as well. Please call our office or follow our Facebook page to see when we need the help.

Let’s push hard to bless others this year as the Lord has been so good to us. When I think about all the Lord has done this year, I cannot help but think our time here is all about Him and we have the opportunity to be busy about our Father’s business. Let’s finish the year strong and bless as many people as we possibly can.

We are in Malawi!
Thank you to all who gave to this important mission. We are so excited to be here. The need is great and there is much work to do…

We are spending all of our time filling these people with God’s healing and joy.

A family of 5 resides in this tiny home. One has a car to use, making life a little easier for us.

John and Brian are seen here making the most of the available resources to cook and feed hungry bellies.

Fellowship in any place makes it a House of God. Where two or more gather…

Young children are seen here foraging for scraps of food, we pray in God’s name for the resources they need.

Brian and Brady blessing these children with whole foods, which the children partake of with open hearts for God.

Toys!
We are in desperate need of toys for children. Please keep in mind that we provide gifts for children up to 18 years of age. It seems like the older children are the hardest to get reasonably priced items for. We really need your help finding items that are age appropriate and comparable to the cool items we get for the younger children. It seems everyone has more fun shopping for the younger children. Older boy items are the least provided. We are not even close to having enough toys to start. We will need to see a huge influx of toys to schedule people to come in to shop. Please be on the lookout for sales and coupons. We are looking for great items at discount prices. Please continue to pray about where God would have you sow into this awesome ministry.
Holiday Meals
We are behind last year’s totals for thanksgiving meals as well. Please prayerfully consider providing Thanksgiving or Christmas meals to less fortunate families. We have cut the cost everywhere possible and we are able to provide an entire family meal for $25. I know we spend a lot more than that on Thanksgiving and Christmas meals because we invite a bunch of people, but in reality we can make a difference for a family for just $25.
